Troubleshooting Leaks
Leaks with Prefolds
- Choose the right size Diaper Cover. Too small, and it will not cover the diaper adequately. Too big, and gaps allow leakage.
- Make sure that all of the cloth diaper is tucked within the diaper cover.
- Use High Quality (Diaper Service Quality) Prefolds.
- Make sure you have taken all the steps to prepare your diapers for use
- Check to see if you have the right size of prefold. If it is too small, there just isn't enough there to hold all that moisture. You might also consider using a diaper doubler or insert.
Leaks with Diaper Covers
- Make sure you have the correct size.
- Detergent Residue - if you think this has happened to your diaper, wash in hot water with no detergent until no suds appear in the water. Consider using less detergent or a different brand to prevent this in the future.
- Check to make sure its not the diaper (see above).
- Damage - if the waterproof coating has separated from the fabric, unfortunately, there is not much you can do to fix this. However, you should try to determine the cause to prevent damage to other covers in the future. (For example, bleach and stain removers may cause this).
Leaks with Fitted Diapers, AIOs, Pocket Diapers
